Jaimie and Joey are expecting their baby girl in a few weeks. I was overfilled with joy and gratitude when Jaimie hired me to document both her pregnancy and the baby when she arrives!
Jaimie first planned her winter pregnancy photoshoot to be in Guadalupe Oak Grove Park. But after shooting there for years, I know that that location is in deep winter sleep. With most of the foliage fallen and without that lush golden grass that I love so in summer and fall. So to achieve that neutral and timeless Californian look, we opted out for a beach. And as it turned out, all major milestones in Jaimie and Joye’s life were captured by the water. Joey proposed at the beach on Maui, and they got married in Monterey. So as Jaimie pointed out, these maternity portraits would be a great addition to their gallery wall collection!
Outdoor photoshoots in winter can be tricky with the unpredicted weather. So looking at the forecast, we decided to move our shoot day a bit earlier. The weather didn’t disappoint. Beautiful clouds in the sky and still plenty of sunshine were ample for this Santa Cruz Beach Maternity Photoshoot to succeed. The wind blew Jaimie’s hair but just enough to show the atmosphere of this place and the movement in the still images!
Jaimie picked a lilac maternity dress that stood out perfectly against the rugged coastline of Santa Cruz Beach.
